Saturday, November 8 will offer workshops for children/teens and families and a conference on the profession of naturalist artist.
A life model is a person who poses for an artist as part of the creation of a work of art.
This term is often used in artistic disciplines such as drawing, painting, sculpture, modeling, and photography.

Artistic Importance : Using a life model allows the artist to ensure the accuracy of what he represents, and to renew his imagination by capturing their bodily expressions and natural beauty, thus avoiding the repetition of styles or forms.

Role in Teaching : Life models are essential in art schools to help students understand the proportions, volumes, and gestures of the human body. Studying the life model is considered a fundamental exercise in learning the graphic and plastic arts.

Pose: Historically, since the Renaissance and even before, the model poses nude, but can also pose clothed, and can be observed for their entire body or for specific parts such as the face, bust, hands or legs. Poses can be short (from a few seconds to 2 minutes) for quick sketches, or longer (from 10 minutes to several hours for sculpture or modeling).

Diversity : There are no strict criteria regarding the model's gender, age, or body type, with the emphasis being on diversity rather than a specific standard of beauty.

Almost every art school offers a class or open workshop in life drawing and painting, open to both beginners and experienced artists. Don't hesitate to find a school or cultural association near you and join us.

The Life Model Nights attract hundreds of artists, both beginners and experienced, to many cities in France and elsewhere (Paris, Toulouse with 9 models, Lille, Caen, Angers, Bordeaux, Gap, Valenciennes, etc.). They are open to all, generally from 7 p.m. or 8 p.m. until midnight, free of charge or for a small fee ($5 to $10), and by reservation. Most of the time this event takes place in a museum. Places are highly sought after, so you must register quickly to participate. Follow this website to stay informed.
